Games to play with giant yard dice
Our giant yard dice are six 3.5 inch cubes of solid New Zealand pine with heat-stamped dots, a scoreboard and a game guide in a carry bag. Use them for yard-sized versions of the classic five-dice scoring game, Farkle-style games or simple counting games with younger kids.
Because they are big and soft-edged, yard dice tumble well on grass and are easy to read from a few steps away, which makes them a good game for a crowd around a fire pit.
Shut the box and 4 in a row
Shut the box is an old pub game: roll the dice, add the numbers, and flip down tiles that make that sum. Our four-way box lets up to four players race at once, with felt lining to keep the rolling quiet. It is also a handy way to practise addition with children.
