Build the tower in rows of three, each row crossed over the one below. On your turn, take one block from any row below the top, using one hand, and stack it on the top row. The tower grows taller with every move; the player who makes it fall loses, and everyone helps rebuild.
A giant tumble set plays the same way as the tabletop classic, only bigger: the blocks are heavy enough that a fall is a real event, and the height makes it a game the whole party watches. Most families find a tumbling tower game takes 10 to 20 minutes, so it fits between rounds of other lawn games.
Our tumble tower sets come in natural pine, a walnut-brown stain and a weathered gray. The wood is the same hand-picked pine in each; the finish only changes the look. Block size decides the height: 4.75 in blocks reach about 3.2 ft, 6 in blocks reach 4.2 to 5 ft, and 7.48 in blocks pass 5 ft.
The bigger the blocks, the heavier the bag, so think about how far you will carry it. Every tower comes with a zip carry bag and a die; most add a white scoreboard and marker for house rules and dares written on blocks.
The classic giant tumble tower has 54 blocks in 18 rows. Our 60-piece towers add two extra rows for more height, and the 56-piece set includes two spare blocks.
Any level surface. On grass, stand the tower on a square of plywood so the base does not sink as the game goes on.
The blocks are sanded smooth with rounded corners. With the giant sets, keep small children back from the tower when it is near full height.
