What comes in the croquet set

Each six-player croquet set includes six mallets with rubberwood heads and poplar handles, six coloured balls, nine steel wickets, two 18 inch finishing stakes, a rule sheet and a nylon carrying case. It is complete equipment for a backyard game for two to six players, and it sets up in minutes on any open lawn.

The mallet length is the one choice to make. 28 inch mallets suit kids and families who play together; 32 inch suits most adults; 35 inch gives tall players a full swing. All three use the same balls and wickets, so spares fit every size.

Keeping a croquet set complete

Wickets go missing in long grass and balls roll under hedges. Our replacement wickets come nine to a pack in white, classic or colourful arrow finishes that show the course order; the replacement balls come six to a set in bright or deep colours, about 3 inches across.

Count everything back into the case at the end of each game, and dry the mallets before storage. A croquet set looked after like this lasts for years of family gatherings.

Croquet questions

How many people can play?

Two to six players, each with a mallet and ball. With four players you can play in two teams of two, each playing two balls.

How big a lawn do I need?

A full backyard course is about 15 × 9 m, but you can shrink the layout to fit. Short grass matters more than size.

Are the wickets steel?

Yes, coated galvanized steel wire, about 8 inches high with rounded tops.
