Polyresin or soft PE bocce balls

Hard polyresin bocce balls are heavier and roll truer on grass, which is why tournament players prefer them. Our 100 mm polyresin bocce ball set pairs with a 51 mm pallino; the 90 mm set is lighter for mixed-age groups. Both are waterproof and resist cracking, so you can play on a wet lawn or the beach.

Soft PE bocce balls are lighter than regulation resin and kinder to decks and toes. They suit beginners and families with young kids, and the set includes a 40 mm pallino, a measuring tape and a zip bag.

How to play bocce in the backyard

Split into two teams with four balls each. One player tosses the pallino down the court; then teams take turns rolling to get closest. The team that is farther away keeps rolling until it is closer or out of balls. When all eight are thrown, the closer team scores one point for each ball nearer than the other team's best.

Play to 12 or 16 points. Keep the measure handy for close calls, and keep a spare pallino in the bag — it is the piece most often lost.
